It's pretty much everything a Digimon fan could ask for, and Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition is about the best value you can get as a fan of the franchise.ĭigimon Story Cyber Sleuth: Complete Edition actually contains two full games: the titular Cyber Sleuth and its expansion pack, Cyber Sleuth – Hacker's Memory. Perhaps that is why Digimon: Cyber Sleuth ended up being such a surprise hit. While it's never quite reached the absurd popularity of Pokémon, it still has a dedicated fanbase. Born originally as a Tamagotchi-like device, it eventually evolved into video games, anime, comics, and all sorts of other things. I can understand locking off Hudiemon and Arcadiamon for story reasons but locking out nearly all of the Frontier representation just feels like kicking the season whose mons already get left out most of the time down yet again.Digimon is basically Pokémon's first big competitor. Even putting in a way to get the Spirits would help a lot so maybe they'll patch it in at some point or maybe there is a way to get them and nobody has reported it yet. It's a pretty big list and I think that's probably why they unlocked the requirements for the royal knights to make up for it. I'll have to look into it more once I'm actually playing the game to see if there's anything else. So here's a list of what I believe are currently all the Digimon that cannot be obtained in the original game without transferring from Hacker's Memory. I actually completely forgot that Susanoomon would be unobtainable without the spirit items. After the nerf, I don't know if that applies anymore, but I would still recommend starting on hard because you can turn the difficulty down whenever it starts getting tedious. The advice that everyone usually gives is that you should start the game on hard because its a cakewalk otherwise, and just adjust the difficulty once the bosses start becoming more tedious than challenging. So yeah, I think I'm okay with hard mode being balanced a little better. I know that the original game was known for becoming almost impossibly difficult later in the game with many bosses becoming massive damage sponges and many of their battles eventually becoming so drawn out that it can take up to two hours just to beat them. I'm also hearing that the original game has had its hard mode adjusted to be more like where it's at in Hacker's Memory. I'm not sure if you can mass transfer mons all at once or if its a one way trip once you move them. I haven't seen anything about how exactly the transfer work yet, but I assume its easy enough to use. Of course, if this is your first time playing, you really shouldn't play HM first. You unlock the ability to transfer Digimon after beating the first game, and I assume it would unlock too if you decide to beat HM first. There was no requirement in the second game to digivolve her so it may be removed in the first game now too. I'm not sure if Dianamon is still unobtainable until after you complete that DLC quest that is now baked into the game itself. It looks like the only other mons that are locked out until a certain point in the game are the armor mons whose items need to be found throughout the game. The block on the royal knights has thankfully been lifted so now there aren't 12-ish megas who are completely locked out until very late game. Alright, so it seems that the only Digimon unobtainable in the original game that need to be transferred in from Hacker's Memory is the Arcadiamon line, The two Spirit mons, and Hudiemon.
